On an average day at Marsupial, I’m involved in a little bit of everything, but my main responsibility is supporting the company’s overall success. I keep a close eye on inventory, ensuring we’re stocked with both finished goods and raw materials, while also making sure we maintain the high quality our customers expect from us.
I help with customer service, responding to emails, answering phones, assisting walk-ins, and handling Amazon inquiries. On the retail side, I process orders, track inventory, and build invoices to keep everything running smoothly.
I also assist with maintenance, ensuring our equipment and building are in good shape, and support production by providing data to help forecast needs and plan efficiently. I am the go to guy for any issues that arise.
Ultimately, I do what’s needed to keep the gears turning
I was a fisherman before I was a hunter, and some of my earliest outdoor memories are of casting lines with my old man in the White Mountains. My first hunting experience was when I was about 8 or 9 years old, in 19A hiking the hills with my Dad. He was able to shoot a beautiful 4x4 buck with me by his side, and I feel lucky to have experienced that at such a young age—it’s a memory that’s stuck with me ever since.
For me, hunting and fishing are all about exploration and witnessing the beauty of places that few people ever get to see. It’s the anticipation of what’s around the next tree, in the next fishing hole, or at the top of the next hill. The thrill of not knowing what you might discover never gets old. There’s a sense of adventure in finding sheds, cool rocks, fossils, or even arrowheads and pottery. Being out in the wild, pushing yourself to explore, and if you’re lucky, watching wildlife in their natural habitat—it’s an experience like no other.
I’m most proud of getting my kids into the outdoors early. Since they were about 1, we’ve been hiking, exploring, shed hunting, and fishing together. One big moment that stands out was last year when I tagged a decent bull with my son Sterling by my side. He was 4 at the time, and on day three of the hunt, he finally decided he wanted to get up early and chase bulls with me. After hiking around and checking out a few bulls, we eventually came across a shooter. Sterling witnessed the whole process, and thought the experience was awesome. He was eager to help too—he even carried a boned-out leg for me! It’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.
Another proud moment was earlier this year when Sterling caught and landed his first fish all by himself. He cast across a little river, hooked a beautiful trout, and landed it on his own. He was so proud of himself, and I couldn’t have been more proud of him. Sharing my love for the outdoors with my kids and watching them feel the same excitement and joy on our adventures has been incredibly rewarding.
A hunting dream I hope to achieve soon is being there when my dad finally kills his first bull Elk. He’s sitting on 20+ bonus points, so I’m really hoping it happens next year.
After that, my personal dream hunt would be a DIY backcountry moose hunt in Alaska. The idea of chasing such a massive animal, along with the challenges of getting one down and packing it out, has always appealed to me. It’s an adventure I would love to experience.
My current chest pack system is a custom color Coyote brown with black trim. I keep a rangefinder pouch on there and will throw on a holster or small zippered pouch on depending on the hunt.
One of my favorite pieces of gear we make, second to enclosed bino pack, is the Padded Scope & Muzzle Cover. I’m pretty tough on gear, and knowing my scope is protected while I’m beating through brush or bouncing around in a vehicle gives me peace of mind. It’s one less thing to worry about during a hunt, and I really appreciate the durability and functionality it provides in keeping my gear ready to go, no matter how rugged the terrain or brutal the weather.
Our Padded Scope Cover is the perfect way to protect your rifle scope and action while hiking through dense brush or crawling through tight spaces. The lightweight but dense foam conforms to your scope and protects it from impacts, while the durable stretch nylon forms to your scope turrets for an ultra-slim fit. Our No-Excess pattern eliminates extra material and weight. Autolock Buckles and 1" webbing secure the cover to your rifle, making it possible to carry via the Low-Profile Carry Handle without putting tension on your scope mounts.
